As the months went by they began to get closer and their friendship grew, but Lance started to develop feelings, he was afraid to act on them, yet he did on a cold windy night while meeting up at their hangout spot in the forest behind the school. Lance looked down at the damp, muddy grass while fidgeting with his hands as he mumbled "I — I need to tell you something Keith" Keith had a gentle yet concerned expression on his face as he said, "What is it, man?" Lance looked up and said "I — I like you Keith" Keith didn't seem to understand, so he replied with a smile and the words a friend would say to another "same here man you're a great friend" Lance's heart was racing he could feel his heartbeat... Every single pound in his chest getting faster. This huge pounding, this huge pressure; every beat got quicker. He couldn't hear it, but he could feel it, and he was quite frustrated, but he knew he had to make it more obvious, so he replied with "Keith you idiot! How can you not get it by now I — I freaking love you!" Keith was shocked and didn't know how to reply he was speechless. Lance could tell, so he leaned in without thinking and kissed him lightly on his lips and ran off crying tears of frustration and heartbreak he just admitted his feelings to the guy he has had a crush on since that day in 6th grade, and he made Keith speechless. Lance thought his chances with Keith were over. Meanwhile, Keith was still processing what just happened, he was nervous and confused, he never thought Lance liked him in such a way, but he knew that he needed to talk to Lance once more, but he didn't know how he felt nor how to put it all in words.
